VOCAL MUSIC can be any music that employs the human voice. This would include opera, lieder/chasson/song, oratorios, and sacred choral music such as masses and motets.

Vocal music can do amazing things. It can take the words of a simple poem and add many layers of meaning to it.

In opera, it has the ability to allow multiple characters to express what they are thinking simultaneously, a feat not possible in a stage play.

Or, by using a single vowel sound, a singer can express the depth of an emotion using no words at all.
